Say hello to … Sapphire the seal pup!

Sapphire was rescued from Newquay Harbour by the British Divers Marine Life Rescue on the 4th of December and is at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary. He was in poor shape when he was rescued — multiple wounds to his flippers and hip, poor breathing and malnourished. He is only 13kg which is extremely underweight (release weight is 30kg for comparison).

Sapphire is currently in isolation and is being cared for by the team at the sanctuary. He is monitored closely and is on medication to treat his wounds and nurse him back to health. Sapphire is still very quiet, which is not unusual for a pup in such poor health.

We are so pleased to be able to help this little boy. Please consider donating to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary to help other pups like Sapphire.
